Flamingos Life recognized the negative impact that traditional non-vegan shoe manufacturing processes and materials have on the environment. Hoping to become an integral part of making the fashion industry more sustainable and transparent to the consumer, the brand created its vegan shoes that are entirely plant-based, using materials produced by the brand including corn, bamboo, hemp, organic cotton grown without pesticides, and Hevea brasiliensis tree- based natural rubber. Additionally, each sneaker collection has an associated social project in order to offset the negative impacts of production. The brand outlines its environmental impact through the reporting of emissions and water saved.
ID.EIGHT has created 90s-inspired sneakers made from innovative and eco-sustainable materials and are unisex. This Italian footwear brand uses vegan, cruelty-free, low-impact waste materials from the food industry and recycled materials. All components of each sneaker are constructed from low-impact materials, apple and grape skins, recycled cotton, and plastic-waste-derived polyester. The brand transparently outlines where each material is sourced for the traceability of product production. All suppliers are local to Italy, except Pinatex, which is from the Philippines, and manufactured locally in Italy as a small, family own company, reducing carbon emissions from transportation. Furthermore, Eco-packaging is made from recycled cardboard and compostable bioplastic bags.
