Good Guys Don't Wear Leather is the full name of this French 100% vegan, cruelty-free shoe brand. As the first vegan shoe brand in France and a trailblazer in transforming the shoe industry into something more sustainable, Good Guys utilizes vegan alternatives to all materials used in its shoes (and socks!), which are all independently tested to be free from chemicals that could be harmful to health. While the brand initially began by using PU leather, in 2020, it introduced the upcycled waste leather alternative, APPLESKIN™️, which is composed of 30% apple waste from the fruit industry to its materials and are sourced in Italy down the road from its manufacturers, in a new collection. Constantly aiming to improve its sustainability and lessen negative environmental impacts, Good Guys is working closely with its manufacturers, all within the EU, to remove 100% PU and create 100% eco-friendly material by 2026. At this point, all materials are sourced in the EU from Spain, Italy, and Portugal, reducing carbon emissions from transportation, and are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and REACH Certified.

Oliver Co recognized the harmful impact of the traditional leather industry and synthetic materials on the planet. With the goal of creating a more sustainable lifestyle through design-led, premium accessories that cause as little environmental impact as possible, the brand decided to implement innovative material technologies to create bio-material-based accessories to reduce these impacts and develop a more circular industry. The brand uses a variety of alternative sustainable materials in its products, like wallets, keychains, and bags. These materials include apple leather, made from apple harvest waste; MIRUM®, 100% plastic free; organic cotton, GOTS certified; recycled polyester, giving plastic a new life. Transparently and traceability of all ingredients are at the core of brand operations. Lifecycle Assessments, environmental impacts, and other key sustainability factors are outlined and answered about each ingredient.

To reduce the negative impact of using animal-based products on the environment and the unethical labor practices undertaken in the production of many traditional leather products, sustainable alternative materials to traditional materials used in the fashion industry are worked with in all products. The current materials used are APPLE SKIN™️, made from apple waste; Bio-Nappa, made from cereal; and newly innovative material, Mylo™, made from mushrooms. The inner lining of our bags and accessories is made from recycled plastic bottles, promoting the circularity of materials that would otherwise end up in our oceans or landfills and cause damage to our planet.

All sustainable materials and their impacts are outlined on the website for easy understanding. Overall, Miomojo operates using a cradle-to-gate approach, meaning environmental footprint from the extraction of materials to production as well as transportation and packaging- the brand partners with DHL's worldwide environmental protection program for delivery for carbon-neutral shipping. They aim to achieve a lifecycle assessment from cradle-to-grave, meaning understanding of complete environmental footprint from material extraction to end-of-life management as a means to continue improving sustainability practices.

That is why planet-based leathers are used including pineapple leaf (Piñatex), cactus (Desserto), apple (AppleSkin), and lining made from lyocell (Tencel), a fiber made from wood pulp. As the brand is committed to employing business practices that are as sustainable, vegan, and safe as possible, all printing uses toxic-free water-based inks, which also carry the Blue Sign and OEKO-Tex Standard 100 Eco Passport, reducing water waste. Product packaging is 100% plastic free and fully recyclable.
